October 18th was a perfect fall day for a party, and Steel Day 2024 was a great opportunity to celebrate the many ways structural steel is transforming our infrastructure.

Over 300 guests from the bridge construction industry joined High Steel for our biggest Steel Day yet, as we welcomed special guests PA Secretary of Transportation Mike Carroll and Rob Buckley of Buckley & Company to showcase two significant Philadelphia-area projects:  the Emergency Replacement of I-95 over Cottman Avenue and Central Access Philadelphia (CAP).

We wish to thank our presenters, Din Abazi, P.E., and Harold Windisch, P.E., of PennDOT; Rob Buckley and Dave Warner of Buckley & Company; Debbie Ferraro, PE, and Jesse Gormley, PE, of Pennoni; and Archie Filshill, PH.D., of Aero Aggregates of North America. Many project team members of the featured projects were also in attendance.

As the project showcase wrapped up, the festivities kicked into high gear at High Steel's fabrication facilities, with guests enjoying a delicious BBQ picnic, insightful shop tours, and fun hands-on virtual welding demos.

The event's success would not have been possible without the dozens of High Steel volunteers who worked tirelessly to make this day unforgettable for our guests.

As we look back on our 15th Steel Day, we feel immense pride and gratitude for the wonderful connections we've built and the great support demonstrated by the industry. We look forward to hosting again in 2025.
